Organic Cloves (Syzygium aromaticum)
How to make Swedish-Style Turkey Meatballs...
Combine 1 pound of lean ground turkey with ½ cup of whole-grain breadcrumbs, 1 egg, ½ onion (finely chopped), ¼ teaspoon of ground Cloves, ¼ teaspoon of ground nutmeg, ½ teaspoon of black pepper, and a pinch of salt. Shape into small meatballs and arrange on a lined baking sheet.
Brush lightly with olive oil and bake at 200°C (400°F) for 15–18 minutes, until browned and cooked through.
While the meatballs are getting tasty and delicious, we make the sauce. Whisk 1 tablespoon of flour into 1½ cups of low-sodium chicken stock and simmer in a skillet until slightly thickened. Remove from the heat and stir in ½ cup of plain Greek yogurt and 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard. Add the meatballs and gently toss to coat.
Serve with mashed potatoes or cooked whole grains and steamed green beans. Add a spoonful of lingonberry preserves on the side for the classic sweet-tart contrast.
