  1. Sarsaparilla Root Tea

    Sarsaparilla Root Tea

    Designation: Absolutely Organic
    Item Order #: T5179

Sarsaparilla is the root of a woody vine found in Mexico, Jamaica and Central America. Its name is derived from the Spanish for shrub and little vine.

When anthropologists began coming to the new world they found Sarsaparilla in heavy use among Amazon natives. It later gained large scale popularity in the US in the 1800's.

The taste of this tea later prompted the creation of "Root Beer." Try adding a touch of sweetener to make a mug of your own brew.

    Designation: Absolutely Organic
    Item Order #: T5198

Known as "Jesuit's tea," comes from the South American Indian name “maté” meaning "drinking vessel" or "gourd". Jesuits added the word "yerba," meaning the herb of excellence.
This tea grows mainly in Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina, near streams and rivers and puts forth large white flowers. Maté is grown for its leaves; they are harvested and dried from December to August.
Traditional processing of Maté involves aging. This Maté has been aged longer than normal to provide a more robust tasting tea.
